Install and administrator setup — Keryx for SafeCall
Status: DRAFT — not counsel-reviewed · 26 August 2026Planned public URL: {public_base}/keryx (landing; detailed install section)Owner: Thomas Minitsios (sourcectl)
This draft is the long-form install and administrator-setup guide for Keryx for SafeCall. The public landing page summary lives in public web pages (P2-04). English and Czech DRAFT bodies in this file; HTTPS publication under #107 remains open.
Do not treat this as live until HTTPS publication under #107 deployment and counsel review where required.
1. Who may install Keryx
- Adult SafeCall administrators or operators for a separately contracted SafeCall physical or building deployment.
- Not a consumer self-service product. Downloading Keryx does not buy or provide SafeCall.
- Initial public store availability is planned for the Czech Republic with English and Czech public materials at launch parity.
2. Before you begin
You need:
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| SafeCall deployment | An active SafeCall installation your organization operates that can generate a Keryx QR code |
| Device | iPhone or iPad with iOS 17+, or Android phone/tablet with Android 12 (API 31)+ on a Google Play-certified device |
| Permissions | Camera (QR scan) and notifications (alerts) |
| Network | Connectivity to your client ntfy host as configured by SafeCall |
Keryx has no user account, checkout, subscription, paid SKU, in-app purchase, or external purchase link.
3. Install from the store
- Open the App Store (iPhone/iPad) listing for Keryx for SafeCall (
com.sourcectl.keryxapp) or Google Play (Android) listing (com.sourcectl.keryx) in the Czech Republic. - Install the free app published by sourcectl.
- Open Keryx and proceed to QR setup below.
Store URLs are recorded in controlled release evidence (#114); do not use unofficial mirrors or sideload packages.
Managed devices (MDM)
Organizations may assign the public Keryx app through Apple Business Manager, standard MDM, or managed Google Play. This is an installation channel only. Administrators still grant permissions and scan a SafeCall-generated QR. Managed app configuration, injected credentials, zero-touch provisioning, and silent configuration are not supported at launch.
4. Configure alert categories in SafeCall
On your SafeCall installation (web administration):
- Open the mobile-notification / Keryx provisioning area.
- Select the friendly alert categories you want on your phone (for example panic button, low battery, sensor threshold, device not seen, installation health).
- Generate the Keryx QR code for your deployment.
The QR carries connectivity settings and your selected categories. Scanning it configures notification delivery; it does not purchase, subscribe to, license, or unlock paid digital content.
Ordinary administrators do not need to enter ntfy server URLs, topic names, or subscriptions manually.
5. Scan the QR on your own device
- In Keryx, tap Scan QR code.
- Grant camera permission if prompted.
- Scan the QR code displayed by your SafeCall installation.
- Grant notification permission when prompted.
Do not share QR images publicly. Treat QR payloads as sensitive configuration (see threat model).
6. Verify a test notification
- Trigger a safe test alert from SafeCall (for example the installation-health or test category if enabled for your deployment).
- Confirm the notification appears in Keryx Active.
- Mark read or archive to confirm the Active/Archive workflow.
If alerts do not arrive, check notification permission, Focus/Do Not Disturb, network connectivity, and your site’s non-Keryx escalation paths. Support uses the existing SafeCall channel (support commitments).
7. Day-to-day use
- Active — unread alerts
- Archive — read or archived alerts
- Settings → Advanced — pause/resume, scan a replacement QR, reset local configuration
Resetting Keryx removes local QR configuration and notification history on the device. It does not change SafeCall server settings.
8. Limitations (summary)
- Keryx notifications are supplemental. They are not a substitute for on-site emergency procedures, phone or radio escalation, or SafeCall web monitoring.
- Alert delivery is not guaranteed. Focus modes, denied permission, mute, force-stop, battery limits, network outages, and in-app pause can delay or suppress alerts.
- Keryx is not a medical device and does not use Apple Critical Alerts at launch.
Full claim language: safety claims.
9. Czech public summary (install steps)
